Petrochemical Pumps and Valves

Chemical products made from the raw materials of petroleum or hydrocarbons are generally called petrochemicals. These petrochemicals are usually produced in extremely large quantities at oil refineries. The two major types of petrochemical products are aromatics and olefins. Petrochemical pumps and valves used to regulate the storage of these chemicals must be properly and habitually maintained. Without these chemicals, we wouldn't have a variety of other commodities that we use in day to day life such as detergent, adhesives, and solvents. Used to regulate these pumps and valves are vacuum switches, which control and direct the flow of the petrochemicals. A common switch is the coolant temperature override or a temperature vacuum switch, which measures coolant temperature. Switches like these generally control something like a vacuum solenoid valve which is great for low pressure and zero head applications. These switches allow the regulation and storage of various petrochemicals. One way to test Petrochemical equipment is to do a load and stress calculating test to measure of how much load and stress it can take before it fails.

What Are Vacuum Switches?

These switches are available in many different types and forms. Vacuum switches can generally be integrated into vacuum generators. They have many functions and can:

  • Be designed to monitor status in a vacuum system
  • Work great as an automatic interrupt of a flow in that system
  • Have a digital readout (not all have one)
  • Are used greatly in the regulation and monitoring of petrochemical pumps and valves
  • Provide you with a reliable leaking sensor as well as an early warning detection system: even the smallest leak can be detected

There are many different kinds and applications for a vacuum switch; they can be used in various environments from an automobile system (where the origins of the switch began) to a petrochemical use (a more modern application). Widely incorporated in many engineering uses, they are efficient, reliable, and steadfast.
